IceStats is a free service that delivers live youth-hockey game updates by SMS and email. We collect only what we need to send you those alerts. We do not sell your information. We do not run ads. This policy explains exactly what data we touch and why.
When you create an IceStats account, we collect your email address, your mobile phone number (only if you opt in to SMS alerts), and the list of teams or divisions you choose to follow. To verify ownership of the email and phone you provide, we temporarily store a one-time verification token tied to your account; tokens expire automatically within 30 minutes of issue and are not used for any other purpose. We do not collect names, addresses, payment information, or any data about minors directly — IceStats is intended for adults (parents, coaches, family members) to follow games their children or teams play.
Your email and phone number are used solely to deliver the alerts you've opted in to: game-start notifications, goal events, period changes, final scores, and weekly digest emails. We use your team follow list to decide which games trigger alerts for you. We do not use your contact information for marketing, promotions, or any messages outside the IceStats alert system.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. The only third parties that ever touch your data are service providers we use to deliver the alerts themselves — see Section 4. We will only disclose your information if compelled by a valid legal process (subpoena or court order), and we'll notify you first unless legally prohibited from doing so.
To deliver SMS messages we use Twilio (twilio.com), a U.S.-based communications platform; Twilio receives your phone number and the message content for transmission. To deliver email we use Google's Gmail SMTP service; Gmail receives your email address and the message content. Live game data is sourced from GameSheet (gamesheetstats.com), the platform North American youth leagues use for scorekeeping — we do not share any of your personal information with GameSheet.
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or are inactive for 18 months, we delete your email and phone number from our systems within 30 days. Aggregate, anonymized usage logs (e.g., how many messages were sent in a given week, without recipient identifiers) may be retained longer for service-quality monitoring.
You can stop SMS alerts at any time by replying STOP to any IceStats text — this immediately removes your phone number from active alert lists. You can stop email alerts at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email. You can request a copy of all data we hold about you, or request full deletion, by emailing privacy@icestats.app. We will respond to deletion requests within 30 days.
All connections to the IceStats website are encrypted via HTTPS. Account passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms. Account data is stored on servers located in the United States. While we take reasonable precautions, no internet transmission is ever 100% secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@icestats.app.
IceStats is intended for use by adults (parents, coaches, and family members) following youth hockey games. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a child has created an account, a parent or guardian may contact privacy@icestats.app and we will remove the account and any associated information.
If we update this Privacy Policy in a way that materially changes how we use your data, we will email all active account holders at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The current version is always available at icestats.app/privacy. The effective date at the top of this page reflects when the current version was published.
